What’s your Mindset?
Choosing to live a healthy active lifestyle “Starts Between The Ears“
How you think will manifest itself in your overall health, good or bad. You have to have the mindset you are in this for the long haul. If you are in a good or bad situation it’s because of the choices you have made, yes circumstances happen to everyone, but overall we are in control. The first step is taking control of the way you speak. Here are some of the filthiest words and statements I hear my clients make in the beginning, I say from the beginning because they are quickly told that “can’t” of language is not allowed
The Filthiest four letter word in the English langauge is can’t
Stay away from negative self-talk!
- It will take forever
- I can’t do it
- I’m too weak
- It’s too hard
- I hate the way I look or feel
The reason I nip negative talk in the beginning because you are sabotaging yourself for achieving better overall health. Studies have proven that negative thoughts can lead to self-sabotaging actions, such as reverting back to poor eating habits and skipping workouts. I find people in general who feel unmotivated, fatigued, and uninspired have a negative mindset. This type of mindset can have a negative effect on one’s ability to visualise goals, and completely derail any effort for a positive change in their lives. Science is coming out all the time with more evidence on the impact of positive thinking has on individuals’ lives.
Research as has shown that a negative mindset can greatly reduce the chances of a person achieving goals such as weight loss or getting into better shape. I truly believe that the change happens when you focus on the positive. Start being grateful where you are now, I guarantee no matter where you are at in life, you can find something to be grateful for.
Some Simple Action steps to start towards a positive mindset
1) Stop watching the news, listen to positive music and audio material
2) keep away from negative people (this one is pretty hard, negative people seem to be everywhere)
3) Keep a gratitude journal, this keeps those bad days from turning into bad weeks
